Solillaquists of Sound As If We Existed (Anti-)

SolillaquistsofsoundPicture the Black Eyed Peas with some real talent, classical musical training, and an inspired spark that exceeds simple mass appeal. The lyrical aspect of this album is shocking in its depth. Both soulful jazzy female vocals and syncopated, punctuated hip hop verses pervade tracks and slap the listener screaming, “You’re hearing something FRESH!” The female voice does more than hooks and has a lot more to say than something catchy and repetitive, the male and female lyricists share the center stage with differing styles that still match in flavor. Underground with mainstream appeal, talent in the mainstream hip hop world is definitely a thing of the past however these brave new beats, and serious topics look like they have the promise to bring back the artful aspect of mainstream hip-hop and r/b.
