Sound: Gentle, beautiful, achy and intimate alt country, roots rock and light rock. With mostly acoustic guitar-driven ballads and mid-tempo reflections, he only rocks hard once on the stompin’, anthemic “Magick.”
Heavy Rotation track: “Born Into A Light”
Medium Rotation track: “Sink Ships”; “Magick”; “Fix It”; “Let Us Down Easy”
Recommended: At first, the subtle, conservative nature of Cardinology can be a little off-putting. For the second album in a row, Ryan Adams has made a concise, simple and focused album with few frills or obvious highlights. But after a few listens, the songs start to grab you unsuspectingly.
