Note: Missy Elliott is a co-executive producer on this debut album from Jazmine Sullivan. Missy also co-wrote and co-produced two of the tracks on here (“Dream Big” and the first single “Need U Bad”).
Sound: Empowered, confessional, sometimes vengeful and sometimes playful r&b driven by a powerful voice. A variety of styles – including flamenco, reggae, Motown, soul, jazz, funk, even musical theatre - are sprinkled in for healthy variety as the songs range from upbeat and modern to sedated and vintage.
Heavy Rotation tracks: “Need U Bad”; “Fear”; “Switch!”; “Live A Lie”
Medium Rotation tracks: “My Foolish Heart”; “One Night Stand”; “Call Me Guilty”
Recommended: Jazmine’s angst and malice towards the men that have done her wrong can be a bit overbearing at times, but she often balances the harshness by displaying a wider range of honest emotions - both positive and negative. With an eclectic mix of sounds and a commanding new vocal talent, Fearless is a solid debut.
