SYNDICATE

DeadChildAttackSound: Crunchy metal that can either be punky/arty/hardcore (think System of A Down), thrashy and technically precise (think Prong), chugging and classic (think late ‘70s/early ‘80s Judas Priest) or sludgy and wicked (think Black Sabbath).
Vocals: Frontman Dahm delivers lacerating, agitated vocals with a solid sense of melody and just the right amount of vibrato - no cookie monster growling, no atonal screaming.
Note: Dead Child is the latest project from David Pajo – a founding member of indie rock legends Slint who’s more recently contributed guitar to acts like Tortoise, Zwan and Bonnie “Prince” Billy, and his own solo work.
Heavy Rotation track: “Sweet Chariot”
Medium Rotation tracks: “Twitch of the Death Nerve”; “Never Bet the Devil Your Head”; “Eye To The Brain”
Recommended: With pummeling riffs and rhythms and a vicious vocalist who actually sings – a rarity in modern metal – Dead Child are a breath of fresh air. Too bad they don’t have a few more memorable songs, but their vibe and attitude carries them. Hopefully we’ll be hearing much more from them in the future.
