Note: This is The Black Crowes first new studio album in 7 years, 7th overall and first for their own label, Silver Arrow Records. It’s also their first album with keyboardist Adam MacDougall and guitarist Luther Dickinson.
Sound: A very classic mix of Crowes styles - jangly roots rock, dirty creepin’ blues, delicate ballads and riff heavy jams.
Heavy Rotation track: “Walk Believer Walk”
Medium Rotation tracks: “Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution”; “Wounded Bird”; “We Who See the Deep”
Recommended: They sound great and Warpaint is certainly an easy and enjoyable listen. Die-hard Crowes fans should be happy to have some new music from their beloved band. But there is very little on here you haven’t heard from the Crowes before and there are only a few standout tracks. So it’s not very essential.
