KelleyStoltzCircularSound: Psychedelic pop that’s heavily inspired by the ‘60s output from The Kinks, Brian Wilson, Pink Floyd, Love, The Beatles and legions of garage bands. After a couple lower-fi albums, Circular Sounds finds Kelly Stoltz going medium-to-hi-fi with lots of trippy and shimmery guitars, sustained organ drones, strummin’ acoustic guitars, whimsical flutes, bright harmonies and some boogie beats as each track delivers one classic-sounding nugget after another.
Heavy Rotation tracks: “Tintinnabulation”
Medium Rotation tracks: “Birmingham Eccentric”; “To Speak to the Girl”; “Something More”; “Mother Nature”; “Morning Sun”
Recommended: These tunes certainly feel more nostalgic than modern, but they’re well crafted. If you’re looking for a new take on the druggy hits of forty years ago, Circular Sounds has exactly what you need.
Grade: B
