Sound: Jittery, sinister and decadent indie rock that heavily incorporates syncopated ska rhythms, elegant Latin piano melodies and communal honky tonk sing-alongs.
Heavy Rotation tracks: “Kid On My Shoulders”; “While We Go Dancing”; “Dinner Party”; “Take A Walk Around the Table”
Medium Rotation tracks: “I Used to Complain Now I Don’t”; “The Plot”; “March of the Camels”
Recommended: White Rabbits mash an unlikely blend of styles together into a very focused, orginal and memorable brand of rock. More refined than The Walkmen and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, less bluesy than Cold War Kids, better songwriters than World Leader Pretend and much more ominous and serious than Cake, White Rabbits takes a little bit from each of these bands and improves upon it. Sometimes the end result sounds like a modernized version of The Specials.
Grade: A- (Strong Top 20 Albums of 2007 Candidate)
