Note: Voxtrot are from Austin, Texas, but frontman Ramesh Srivastava lived in Glasgow, Scotland for awhile. His time spent across the pond definitely influences his music.
Sound: Voxtrot jumps between guitar-chugging, rhythm-driven rock reminiscent of early New Order and softer, bouncier pop in the ballpark of Belle and Sebastian. Either way, the warm vocals caress and enrapture you, while the hooky, multi-faceted songs whip you in many satisfying directions. Piano and strings add texture along the way.
Heavy Rotation tracks: “Kid Gloves” (Top 20 Songs of 2007 Candidate); “Ghost”; “Firecracker”
Medium Rotation tracks: “Steven”; “Every Day”; “The Future Pt. 1”
Recommended: Each track will likely cause you to play name that influence, but Voxtrot cranks out plenty of invigorating hits with their own personal stamp.
Grade: A- (Top 20 Albums of 2007 Candidate)
