Sound: Forlorn alt country meditations and freewheelin’, Wild West roots rockers with frequent touches of psychedelic, Brit rock reminiscent of Oasis, Coldplay, Kasabian and Pink Floyd.
Heavy Rotation tracks: “Dizzy”
Medium Rotation tracks: “Hollywood”; “Following You”
Explicit Lyrics*: “Hollywood”
Recommended: The sadness, darkness and desperation on Horses of War is palpable and makes for some moving music. The pacing of the album is a little jarring, though. From track to track, it constantly alternates between mellow and up-tempo, which prevents a consistent flow from developing.
Grade: B
* Noting of explicit lyrics is for the benefit of radio music directors or anyone else that needs/wants to keep their music FCC-friendly.
