Sound: Folky/roots rock with some spring in its step. Sometimes Pablo is solely acoustic guitar, but usually the band adds some combination of harmonica, slide guitar, piano, organ and drums without ever rocking at full tilt.
Vocals: Paul Schalda’s wounded croak is strong and melodic, while airy harmonies lurk in the background.
Look For: Their faithful cover of the excellent Zombies song, “This Will Be Our Year.” If you’ve never heard the original or the amazing album it came from (1968’s Odessey and Oracle), you’re really missing out on something on par with The Beatles’ brilliance of that era (note: the classic hit “Time of the Season” is on there). Pablo does the song justice. Too bad they didn’t mix it up a little more.
