Note: Vocalist/guitarist Jim Suptic was a member of the now-defunct Get Up Kids.
Sound: Somewhat like the whiny, poppy punk of his former band, but there’s more of that Replacements-style, raggedness and toughness with classically catchy tunes. Plus, some mid-tempo, acoustic/electric rock.
Heavy Rotation tracks: none
Medium Rotation tracks: “This Town’s Disaster“; “Empty Tank
“; “It’s Never About What It’s About
“; “Unlucky
“
Recommended: If you think that many of this decade’s wussy, radio-ready bands would be a lot cooler if they rocked harder, with more conviction and legit hooks, Blackpool Lights might be just what you’re looking for. They may also satisfy if you could use a modest Replacements supplement in your new music diet.
