Sound: Lighter-than-air melodies and harmonies float over both New Order-esque, danceable rock and jangly, acoustic ballads
Heavy Rotation track: “Up Close and Personal“
Medium Rotation tracks: “Shallow“; “Safety In Numbers
“; “A Place In Displacement
“; “Habit of a Lifetime
“
Recommended: South always makes gorgeously satisfying music, but once again they’ve ditched their electronic/dance pop/rock of From Here On In (my #16 album of 2002) in favor of a more organic sound. They’re not as unique and exciting with this conventional approach.
Grade: B-
