Sound: Adventurous folk pop with twists of country and funky, fuzz guitar rock; at times it strays into sugary, 70s AM Radio, light rock territory
Vocals: Once again Ollie Knight and Gale Paridjanian’s dual attack shows off their unique mix of twang, androgyny and angst
Heavy Rotation tracks: “Over and Over“; “Red Moon
“; “Asleep With the Fireflies
“
Medium Rotation tracks: “Fishing for a Dream“; “They Can’t Buy the Sunshine
“; “Come and Go
“; “Building Wraps Round Me
“
Recommended: They take even more chances than they did on Ether Song (my #14 album of 2003) and end up with something just as exciting, if a little fluffier. The lyrics are sometimes simplistic and unimaginative (particularly when the music’s at its most compelling), but the overall sound and musical creativity are captivating.
