Sound: Wicked desert blues rock in a variety of tempos; often haunting but usually tempered by Josh Homme’s sweet falsetto
Notes: Original member Nick Oliveri is no longer in the band, leaving Josh as the only original member; ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons plays guitar and sings on “Burn the Witch
“
Heavy Rotation tracks: “Someone’s In the Wolf“; “Long Slow Goodbye
“
Medium Rotation tracks: “Tangled Up In Plaid“; “Little
Sister“; “You Got a Killer Scene There, Man…
“; “Burn the Witch
”
Recommended: To fans of solid guitar rock with a twist of terror, but this album is void of a knockout single like “The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret” or “No One Knows
” and occasionally suffers from murky production. Overall it
falls a notch or two below their last two albums. Hopefully Nick and Josh will reunite soon.
