Sound: Whimsical blend of quirky pop songcraft and cosmic experimental rock; sweet-sounding lyrics that reveal latent frustration and twisted psyches upon close inspection
Notes: With 10 tracks, 41 minutes and a consistent flow from song to song, I’m guessing the only reason they call it an EP is because it’s b-sides and unreleased tracks from their first two albums
Look for: The most cynically sinister, anti-marriage track I’ve ever heard, “Single Again”
Heavy Rotation track: “Single Again”
Medium Rotation tracks: “Here Comes The Summer,” “Evergreen,” “Sing For Me”
Recommended: The first half is good for fans of their debut Gallowsbird’s Bark (my #17 album of 2003), while the second half is suited for the fans of their second album Blueberry Boat (an overambitious mess, if you ask me).
Grade: C+
