Dan Bejar is known best as the drunkest member of New Pornographers. When he tours with the band, he stumbles out to the stage, sings a couple tunes in his glammy voice and heads backstage to drink more when he’s done. He’s also known for his work with his own band, Destroyer (read my review on their most recent album).
Now he’s teaming up with his girlfriend (Sydney Vermont, a visual artist and vocalist) and releasing a new album under the moniker Hello, Blue Roses. Their self-titled debut is scheduled to be released January 22, 2008. The music has been described by Bejar as “European pastoral music butting up against a harsh ’80s reality.”
For a preview, you can download or stream an MP3 of “Shadow Falls.”
