System of A Down frontman Serj Tankian started up his own label, Serjical Strike, back in 2004. Though the fledging imprint has put out a few releases over the last couple years, they’ve yet to really break a new band. That may change this year.
Dallas’ Fair to Midland will release their debut album on Serjical Strike/Universal Republic on June 12th. The hard-to-classify, proggy metal was produced by David Botrill (known for his work with Tool, Muse and Peter Gabriel) and has a fittingly epic title, Fables From A Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times Is True. Serj handpicked the band and recently joined them onstage during their set at the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California.
You can now watch Fair to Midland’s video for “Dance of the Manatee” and listen to MP3s from the album.

I saw serj in Austin last week and he was sick! The fact that he is backing fair to midland should be enough but FTM can most definitely stand alone, These guys are super talented. I have been watching their kyte video blog on their myspace and it has some dope videos on it. Footage from shows and behind the scenes footage of the guys on tour. Def check it out
