SYNDICATE

RosebudsThe Rosebuds may be from North Carolina, but their sexy, often danceable pop/rock sounds like it comes from across the pond. In fact, their affinity for UK-friendly music is convincing enough that I included three of the songs from their last album (2005’s Birds Make Good Neighbors) on my year-end Brit and Brit-Sounding Pop/Rock Mixes of 2005 (Vol. 1 & Vol. 2).

On April 10th, they’ll release their third full-length for Merge Records (also home to artists like Spoon, Arcade Fire and M. Ward). Night of the Furies sees them evolving in a little darker and dreamier direction. Upon first listen, New Order is a band that keeps coming to mind, particularly the vocal phrasing and synth sounds on “Get Up Get Out.” You can hear the MP3 now.
