Saddle Creek artist Maria Taylor will release her second solo album, Lynn Teeter Flower, on March 6th. Maria was first known to the music world as one half of the angelic-voiced duo Azure Ray. Then in 2005, her bandmate, Orenda Fink, and her released solo albums (Invisible Ones and 11:11). I liked both of them better than the Azure Ray albums, but favored Orenda’s Invisble Ones because of its darker mood and tribal energy. At times, I thought Maria’s 11:11 dragged.
According to Saddle Creek Records, Lynn Teeter Flower will be “an album more influenced by rhythm.” I think that’s a very promising direction and I’m definitely liking the rock of the first track “A Good Start,” which you can check out now:
You can also sample her softer side on “Lost Time”
Another thing to look for on Lynn Teeter Flower is the song “The Ballad of Sean Foley,” which features writing and vocal contributions from Conor Oberst (aka Bright Eyes). I can’t wait to hear that track and the rest of the album.
