After three consecutive LPs with Vagrant Records, Chicago band Alkaline Trio will release their next album on V2 Records. The gloomy, melodic rockers will join an already impressive label roster consisting of artists like The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, Stereophonics, as well as Blood Meridian and Elbow (who’ve released two of my Top 10 albums of 2006 so far).
Alkaline Trio will head into the studio in early 2007, and I expect great things. Vocalist/Guitarist Matt Skiba just released the solid side project Heavens (see my review here), and the band’s last album had an amazing first half (see my review here). I think they’re on a hot streak right now and have the potential to release a landmark album. I look forward to hearing what they do next.
