The Apples in Stereo New Magnetic Wonder (Yep Roc)
The Apples in Stereo are quirky, sunny, happy and nuts. Robert Schneider has taken a midi and altered the frequencies so the scales change and the notes are spaced in a progressing pattern. Why would one want to do this? I’m not sure, but it creates some very interesting noise. This is crazy indie pop. It’s fun, cute, and only skin deep. This makes you want to dance around your seat and just be happy no matter how depressed you are. Apples are part of the legendary Elephant Six collective and Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel) helps out on the albums, and Mangum is fucking sick.
