Malajube Trompe-L’oeil (Ninja Tune)

This band is huge in the Montreal music scene and is one of the most popular bands in all of Canada. They give me a very Arcade Fire feeling. The first time I listened to the record, I liked their sound but I couldn’t get past the fact that I didn’t know what the hell they were talking about. But if you look past that, as I eventually did, this band has the talent to cross language barriers. They use guest vocalists from bands like The Dears, who are just as huge in Canada, and rapper Loco Locass. After shaking off the Frenchiness of the record, I loved it.
