Grizzly Bear Yellow House (Warp)
Last year was the year of the wolf… Wolf Parade, Guitar Wolf, Wolf Eyes, Aids Wolf… etc. Now we have the year of the bear! The Bears, Golden Bear, and the leader of the pack Grizzly Bear! So Grizzly Bear has been around a few years and this is their first release on Warp Records. They’ve been a very avant-guard D.I.Y. experimental band. They continue this trend with this album. Basically it is a very ambient album with haunting melodies that accent the vocals. Instrumentation is done with a variety of instruments with a folk center to it. Banjos and lap-steel are a plenty here. Think Sigor Ros in English with a folk twist.
