SquarepusherHelloSquarepusher’s tenth album, Hello Everything, came out today on Warp, and while Thomas Jenkinson may not do anything groundbreaking with his standard toolkit (bass guitar, samples, and a drum machine) this time around, he does stick to what he knows best: freaky jazz breaks, dynamic melodic cascades, plenty of skittish drum and bass, and –- seeing as this is Squarepusher –- some seriously jaw-dropping bass virtuosity. And hey, if you can shred a six-string fretless at over 150 bpm, I think you can afford to throw “progression” to the winds.
